Last Chance For Your Favorite Market Items

This Saturday is November 3...which means the last day for the 2012 Market season.  Be sure to make the Market part of your schedule this weekend.  If you haven't already (or have already run out!) stop by and stock up on all of your Market favorites.  This weekend your bound to find beans, greens, potatoes, garlic, onions, peppers, squash, carrots and more.  Besides the amazingly fresh produce, you'll find local, farm-raised meats and goat cheese, honey, gelato, bread, pies, jams and jellies and SO MUCH MORE!

Don't forget to stop by and browse the handcrafted items produced by many talented, local artisans.  You'll find the perfect gifts and even something special for yourself.  Everything from woodworking to glassworks, upcycled clothing, jewelry and the list just goes on.

As always, thank you so very much for your support.  Looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend at the final 2012 Market!

Eat the Season

Summer is gone (although a few days this week, one might wonder if really is) and fall is in charge.  The breezy, brisk days blowing around the gorgeous leaves from Urbana's stately trees get me excited for the freshest, local, autumn seasonal produce available.

There are two weeks to stock up on all your favorite Market at the Square items.  As always, thank you for your support and we'll see you this weekend RAIN OR SHINE!

Still So Much Going On!

There's still plenty to see, do, and eat at the Market!

The Market is still in full swing - despite the days getting shorter and the temperatures getting lower.  This weekend we're to expect slightly warmer temperatures - highs in mid-70's.  Art at the Market will take place from 8 a.m.-noon.  This is a free event!  Jan Kaczmarowski of Shared Threads Workspace will present guests the chances to make a tote bag from a t-shirt!  Also this weekend, Los Guapos will be playing from 9:30-11:30 a.m.

As always, thank you for your support and patronage and we look forward to seeing you this weekend!

Fresh is the Word

Shopping at Urbana's Market at the Square means you, the patron and customer, recieve the freshest of the fresh in terms of produce, meats, cheeses and more.  Fresh, local food not only is beneficial to your health, but it helps the local economy and communities.

In terms of fresh, this weekend has got it going on.  Here is why:

Fresh produce:  Plan to find some amazingly fresh greens, beans, squash, pumpkins, apples, sweetcorn, eggplant, herbs and more.

Fresh air:  The Market is outdoors with plenty of room to wander down FIVE rows of vendor spaces.  If you're in the mood for baked goods - we've got your covered.  If it's your mother's birthday and you have yet to buy her a present - our talented, local artists have the PERFECT gift.  If you're new to the area and want to learn more about community organizations and local non-profits - visit ROW 5!

Fresh beats:  The Market is going to be HOPPING this weekend with fresh beats by The Turinos and Art at the Market.
  • The Turinos, 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM
  • Son and father duo Matt and Tom Turino have been performing old-time, Cajun, and country blues music as well as their original tunes and songs on fiddle, banjo, guitar, and button accordions throughout the Midwest and Upper South over the last ten years. Currently they also play with the Cornstalkers Cajun Band, the U-Four String Band; Matt performs with the Mean Lids; and Tom performs Andean Music with the Hathaways. They have been regulars at the Urbana Farmer's Market since Matt was ten. Listen to their music online on their Myspace.
  • Design Eco-Friendly Cloth Napkins with Traci Pines, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PMMake the switch: Ditch your paper napkins for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Go green and cut down on household expenses by cutting your use of paper napkins. Use stamps, markers, and fabric paints to make your very own custom designed and eco-friendly cloth napkins to use at your next family meal and even in your school lunch!!
And if you're still not convinced that the Market is where fresh is at...then let these photos convince you:

See you this weekend.  As always, THANK YOU for supporting Urbana's Market at the Square!
